We Built PCPartPicker for SaaS: Here's Why
SaaS discovery is broken. Vendor bias is everywhere and picking a tech stack takes weeks. StackPicker is a free visual stack builder with 500+ tools and zero sponsored rankings.

If you've ever tried to assemble a PC, you probably know PCPartPicker. You pick your CPU, your GPU, your RAM. The site checks compatibility, tallies the price, and gives you a clean parts list you can share or order from. Simple, visual, buyer-first.
Now try doing the same thing for your business software.
You can't. And that's the problem we set out to fix.
SaaS Discovery Is Broken
The average business uses 130+ SaaS tools (BetterCloud 2023 State of SaaSOps). Picking those tools should be straightforward, but the current landscape makes it surprisingly hard.
Review sites have consolidated. G2 acquired Siftery in 2018 to absorb its software usage data. Then in early 2026, G2 bought Capterra, GetApp, and Software Advice from Gartner for $110M. One company now controls the dominant SaaS review sites, the discovery layer, and the usage data. The incentives have shifted from buyers to vendors with ad budgets.
Vendor bias is baked in. Most comparison sites make money from sponsored placements and referral fees. That "top pick" badge? It often means "highest bidder." You're reading ads dressed up as recommendations.
The UX hasn't evolved. You're still scrolling through endless feature grids and reading reviews from 2019. There's no way to see your full stack in one view, understand the total cost, or quickly compare combinations.
Pricing is a maze. Freemium, per-seat, usage-based, tiered. Every SaaS tool prices differently. Comparing what you'll actually pay across ten tools means opening ten pricing pages, doing mental math, and maintaining a spreadsheet that's outdated by next week.
The result: picking a tech stack takes weeks of tab-hopping, spreadsheet wrangling, and second-guessing. For something that should take an afternoon.
What We Built
StackPicker is a free SaaS discovery and tech stack recommendation tool. Think PCPartPicker, but for your business software stack. Here's how it works:
Browse 500+ tools across 24 categories. CRM, project management, analytics, communication, DevOps, design, and more. Each listing includes current pricing, key capabilities, and category context. No paid placements. No sponsored rankings.
Build your stack visually. Add tools to your stack and watch the total monthly cost update in real time. See everything in one view, not scattered across fifteen browser tabs. Remove a tool, add an alternative, and the numbers adjust instantly.
Get AI recommendations tailored to your business. Our AI Stack Advisor takes a description of your business and suggests a complete stack. It has no vendor relationships and no incentive to push one tool over another. It just tries to find the best fit for what you described.
Share with a single link. Every stack gets a unique URL and an OG trophy card, a visual summary that looks good when shared on Slack, Twitter, or in a pitch deck. Use it to align your team, get feedback from advisors, or show investors your planned tooling.
We also built nine staff-pick stack templates for common scenarios: early-stage startups, e-commerce businesses, content teams, and more. So you can start from a proven foundation instead of a blank slate.
Who It's For
Founders who need to pick their tools quickly and get back to building their product. You shouldn't spend 20 days choosing a CRM.
Ops and IT leaders evaluating a stack consolidation or migration. Build the proposed stack, see the total cost, share it with stakeholders.
Consultants and agencies who recommend tools to clients. StackPicker gives you a shareable, professional output in minutes.
The Bigger Picture
At Caydev, we think about the full SaaS lifecycle. StackPicker handles the first step: discovering and assembling the right stack. Our other product, SaveMySaaS, handles what comes after: tracking renewals, spotting waste, and optimizing spend over time.
We built StackPicker from the same place we build everything at Caydev. The Cayman Islands, with the conviction that world-class tools can come from anywhere. You don't have to wait for a Silicon Valley company to solve your problems.
The idea is simple: build your stack with confidence, then manage it without surprises.
Try It
Go build your first stack at stackpicker.io. No account needed, takes five minutes.
Browse the directory. Build a stack. Share it with your team. And if you find it useful, we'd genuinely appreciate you spreading the word.
